Hi Monique,

I did not have a method to contact you other than through your blog's comment feature. I wanted to offer some constructive criticism - from one professional to another.

With all due respect, when choosing a picture for your blog, select something that exhibits your professionalism as an educator.

Your current picture would be deemed inappropriate by many in the field of education since it depicts an image of you in a club holding a drink. Think about the people who could view this image.

I did not really examine the image when I visited your blog initially. Being excited about students from my alma mater writing blogs about their pre-service education, I sent your blog address to a fellow blogger/teacher in the Chicago area. She wrote to me that the first thing she noticed about your site was the picture. She pointed out that principals and school boards would not consider the picture appropriate and might turn down your application for employment. The blogger goes on to note that student teachers in her district have lost their student teaching positions and have had their enrollment at schools of education revoked simply for having pictures on web sites like MySpace, Facebook or blogs similar to the picture you display.

It is not my intent to embarrass you. Instead, I want to encourage you to think professionally when posting material on-line.

Regards,
